Bug Up My Vodafone

Filed under: Mobile Phone, Operators, Technology, Vodafone — admin @ 6:20 pm

There has been a failure in the security service “My Vodafone”, which has exposed private information of 8,000 customers of the company itself.

My Vodafone is a service of the Vodafone company with which users can view through your web portal, their user data, balance inquiry, promotions and other contracted services that telephone companies typically offer to provide information to their customers and not saturate both the customer service at 123.

Well as due to a security breach of this service, many users have been able to see data from other users, because at the time of entering your phone number and password, entered the service, but the data appeared not if yours were not those of another user, if left and returned to them showing the other different user.

The problem existed only for a few hours, as many users reported the problem to the service and it was to work in a matter of seconds, but the problem to affect 8000 customers, a 0.05% of total 16 million customers.

Consumer Action has complained to Vodafone before the Spanish Agency of Data Protection, and he referred them to a Vodafone report on the situation and is awaiting the response from the company.

Investigated by the Three Major Carriers to Negotiate Rates

Filed under: Mobile Phone, Operators, Technology, Vodafone — admin @ 1:29 pm

The National Competition Commission (CNC) has opened a case against the three big operators in Spain – Movistar, Vodafone and Orange – for rising rates of 25% made on March 1, which could have been agreed between the operators. As you know, this increase corresponded to the law that eliminated the rounding of prices and forced to charge per second.

Thus, we are starting to seek punitive measures for the three companies, which could involve up to 10% of annual turnover, which translates into millions in fines. According to the OCU, the revenues obtained by operators with the rise in rates would mean a 60% more than it gained from rounding (billed per minute). Movistar get about 628.6 million, Vodafone Orange 217.4 million and 362.4 million euros more than before the entry into force of law.

This is a clear example of what happens when a law is not made as well as it should be. On the one hand, the user cree be benefiting consumers and pay less with the new law, but by contrast, their rates go up operators that produces the opposite effect. What do you think?
